Maxillofacial Prosthetic Services
Compassionate, expert care for patients affected by the loss of facial structures, helping restore appearance, function, and confidence.
Restoring What Matters Most
Maxillofacial prosthetics is a highly specialized field dedicated to patients who have lost facial or oral structures due to cancer, trauma, or conditions present from birth. At Dental Vantage, we understand that these losses go far beyond the physical — they touch identity, confidence, and quality of life. Our goal is to create prostheses that are as lifelike and comfortable as possible, helping patients return to the activities and relationships they love.
Who We Help
We work with patients who have experienced facial or oral tissue loss as a result of head and neck cancer surgery, traumatic injury, or congenital conditions. We collaborate closely with oncologists, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, and other specialists to provide seamless, coordinated care throughout the patient's journey.
Our Prosthetic Services
Ocular (Eye) Prostheses
A custom ocular prosthesis — commonly called an artificial eye — is crafted to closely match the appearance of the natural eye, including iris color, size, and vein patterns. We work with patients who have undergone enucleation or evisceration due to cancer, trauma, or other conditions.
- Custom-painted to match the natural eye
- Comfortable, lightweight acrylic construction
- Fitting and adjustment appointments included
- Ongoing care and polishing services
Nasal Prostheses
For patients who have lost part or all of the nose due to cancer resection or trauma, a custom nasal prosthesis restores a natural appearance. Prostheses are fabricated from medical-grade silicone and tinted to match the patient's skin tone, and can be retained with adhesive or implant-supported attachments.
- Silicone construction with custom skin-tone matching
- Adhesive or implant-retained options
- Partial and total nasal prostheses
- Collaboration with surgical team for optimal outcomes
Auricular (Ear) Prostheses
A custom auricular prosthesis replaces a missing ear with a remarkably lifelike silicone restoration. Whether the loss resulted from cancer surgery, trauma, or a congenital condition such as microtia, we create prostheses that blend naturally with the surrounding skin.
- Medical-grade silicone with intrinsic coloring
- Adhesive or osseointegrated implant retention
- Suitable for congenital and acquired ear loss
- Detailed texture and color matching
Orbital Prostheses
When cancer or trauma results in the loss of the eye and surrounding orbital structures, an orbital prosthesis restores the appearance of the entire eye region. These complex prostheses require exceptional artistry and close collaboration with the surgical team.
- Combined eye and eyelid restoration
- Implant-supported for improved stability
- Custom fabrication for each patient's anatomy
- Multidisciplinary team coordination
Intraoral Obturators
An obturator is a prosthetic device that closes a defect in the roof of the mouth (palate) following cancer surgery or trauma. It restores the ability to speak clearly and eat comfortably, dramatically improving quality of life after maxillectomy.
- Surgical, interim, and definitive obturators
- Restores speech and swallowing function
- Custom-fitted to the surgical defect
- Ongoing adjustments as healing progresses
